ISERH: ASPIRING THE BEST COMPETITION (ABC) MADE ME A SUCCESS! – ONI TITILOPE
Titilope Dorcas Oni receiving her consolation prize from ISERH Executive Director, Mr. Abdulahi Abayomi Abdulraheem in Jan. 2016
I am Titilope Dorcas Oni, an old student of Ilesa Grammar School. In the year 2015, I was in Senior School Class (SS) 2 when I heard of theAspiring the Best Competition (ABC) of the Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health (ISERH). I was interested in the competition because I believed I could score 75% cut of mark of the competition and got ISERH pay for my Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) thereby saving my parents the stress of looking for money to pay for the examination (SSCE) when I got to SS3. I also wanted to become an ABC Scholar and as well as being one of the ISERH Ambassadors.
As other colleagues of mine were so afraid of failing the ABC which debarred them from participating, I had no iota of doubt of passing the examination since I was a champion in my school. I selected two subjects of my choice (Chemistry and Biology) with 2 compulsory subjects of the competition (Mathematics and English), believing that I would surely excel and win the competition, knowing my capacity in these subjects except Mathematics that I wasn’t at good at.
Our results were released few weeks after, but I got disappointed beyond measure. I had an aggregate score of 55.5%: scoring 13.5, 18, 9 and 15 in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry and Biology respectfully. The score only won me ABC Consolation Prize and not SSCE sponsorship! I felt bad and bitter. I was seriously challenged on the Prize Giving Day that took place on Saturday 2nd of January, 2016, when I saw fellow students that won the competition, fully decorated when I was only called to the podium to collect a consolation prize.
I went back home fully determined to concentrate on what made me fall and thereby conquer Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) that I would be writing few month after. I vouched never to let my parents’ labour of getting money to pay for my SSCE go in vain. I studied days and nights.
Today, I decided to share my success story to the world because if not ISERH’s Aspiring the Best Competition (ABC) that I participated in, I wouldn’t have known my ability, let alone of being challenged to put extra efforts. When my WAEC results were released, I made B3 inMathematics and A1 in Chemistry. The same Chemistry I scored 9/25 in the ABC Examination!!!

Thank you ISERH for establishing Aspiring the Best Competition (ABC). May God continue blessing you! How I wish I could rewrite the Examination and even tell every student in Secondary Schools to make sure they write this competition before facing SSCE and/or UTME.
I am very grateful.
