ISERH Ambassador Oluyemi Tosin Phillip is a son of a Panel Beater (father) and a Petty Trader (mother). Financing his Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) was a great concern to his parents. They heard of Aspiring the Best Competition (ABC) and Tosin was encouraged to participate in it. He sat for it in 2015, made the actual cut-off mark of the competition, 75%, and ISERH paid for his 2016 WAEC.Tosin was the Award Winner of the ABC Highest Scorer’s Award in English Language at the 2016 ABC Prize Giving Ceremony and got inducted into ISERH Ambassadors’ Forum.

ISERH Ambassador Tosin tells his story:

“I am an ex-student (old student) of the prestigious ST. JOHN'S COMPREHENSIVE ACADEMY, ILESA.  During my final year in the school, I had a silent fear that I wouldn't finish my secondary school education because of my parent’s financial status. At the point of giving up, a friend introducedAspiring the Best Competition (ABC) to me. I collected the form and sat for the exam. Luckily for me, my score ‘74.5%’ was rounded up to ‘75%’ (the cut-off mark for one to benefit ISERH sponsorship for his/her SSCE) by the merciful Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health (ISERH). Thanks to the mathematician who introduced approximation into mathematics. I got my WAEC paid for by the great ISERH. This solved the better half of my problem, and that challenged me to increase my study time. My relentless and consistent studies paid off when I made 6 A's and 3 B's in my WAEC. May the Lord bless the brains and sponsors behind ISERH.

My experience with over 80 ISERH Ambassadors (those that have enjoyed ISERH’s sponsorship) was amazing. I met great and brilliant young people like me. Success is easily seen in their eyes. Majority are from the same (poor) background like me. The experiences they relate; the words they speak; the counsels they receive and give; the moods they put on; the stories they tell; the references they make; their actions and reactions; the way they think; the way they examine things; the things they believe... inspire and encourage me that I am not alone on the path to success and that I have to fasten my belt to be relevant. Here I am today with a score of 338 in JAMB. I dedicate the score to these Ambassadors and everyone that has taken a part in my life.

I'm highly indebted to ISERH because everything I have put down here would have remained dreams and imaginations if not for their initiative, supports and leadership development training. Words will roll endlessly, history will flow ceaselessly, but ISERH has made me, ISERH has filled a wide gap in my life, ISERH has set me moving. My joy knows no band as I will be joining the 11 ISERH Ambassadors in Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) where I shall be studying my dream course ‘Mechanical Engineering’.

I appreciate my parents, especially my father, who encouraged me to write ABC, not only because it was an avenue for me to have my financial problem solved, but also because he wanted it to replace the popular Nov/Dec GCE he couldn't afford to pay for. Dear parents, give your wards chances to measure their worth by mixing with other kids. I challenge other parents to give their children the opportunity to get challenged, get tested, get sponsored, and get mixed up with the identified Leaders of Tomorrow (ISERH Ambassador) by encouraging him/her to sit for this year’sAspiring the Best Competition (ABC).

I appreciate Elder Bode Aluko, the award recipient of ISERH Excellent Teacher’s Award, and all my teachers for their mentorship and encouragement. Thanks to the management of ST. JOHN'S COMPREHENSIVE ACADEMY, ILESA for their supports and their being lenient with my family whenever we failed to meet up with our financial obligations.

I have a dream of building my little world with what I have. I know the world needs me and I am waiting for the time when my plans will start to materialize. When the dignity of man shall be upheld and respected, when students shall be influenced to excel, when men shall be treated equally and related with in equity. I wish I have grown up rich, to give hope to many young people of my economic class. So help me God.

God bless ISERH
